Etihad Airways To Operate More Flights To India

Etihad is one of the largest full service carriers of the Gulf region and flies to 10 destinations in India currently. In a major initiative aimed towards increasing its operations worldwide, Etihad has announced a series of operational measures for increasing the frequency of flights, adding more routes and even taking up stake across the global carriers. With respect to India, Etihad is seeking to deepen its business by planning to take up stake in Jet Airways.
In a recent initiative, it is planning to upgrade its services to Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kozhikode and Hyderabad. These cities will now have double daily frequencies of flights. New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi already have frequency flights. With this, the travelers will be having the option of flying during the day or in night. This will help in meeting the increasing demand from business and leisure travelers and further deepen the relations between India and GCC countries.

It is interesting to note that last year saw a 20% jump in people traveling from India to Gulf on Etihad. In absolute terms, close to 8,85,000 people has used its services to fly to Gulf countries. It has also started flying codeshare flights on 31 Jet connected cities in India and used EY code for first time.
